At The Moody Center, one of our primary objectives is to be a gathering space for Christians. We love the heritage of D.L. Moody and how he gathered people here and sent them out all the more effective for Christ.
In September, we have the honor of hosting Nick Moorhead and the Northfield D.L. Moody Days event he is leading. Nick is a pastor from North Carolina, but he is traveling all the way to Massachusetts to be with us at the historic D.L. Moody property.
From September 10th-19th, Nick will be hosting a revival meeting similar to the ones Moody would hold. These events will draw from elements of the Moody heritage such as using the music of Ira Sankey and even preaching from original D.L. Moody sermons. Not only will it be a beautiful tribute to the Moody legacy, it also will be a time of worship and intercession. You can contact him for more information at: email@example.com
On September 10th, the event will launch at D.L. Moody’s auditorium 54 Winchester Road, Northfield MA 01360, with a hymn sing led by Robert Dvorak. From the 11-18th, the tent meeting will be on the lawn by Hibbard Hall. The final session on the 19th will be in the Auditorium closing with times for testimonies and celebration.
Please find below a message from Nick to the New England pastors and churches:
Dear Pastors, Church Leaders, and Friends,
My name is Nick Moorhead. I was privileged to have the opportunity to speak at the Pioneer Valley Pastors meeting in July. In that meeting, I shared about an evangelistic event coming to the D. L. Moody grounds.
Many years ago I lived in California (before I was saved). One day on my way to school I looked down in a valley and told God that if he would save me and call me to preach, I would preach anywhere, even in a field. I believe that my call to preach on the Moody field as being fulfillment of the promise that I made to God.
I was born in Boston. I was saved while attending Tremont Temple. A friend of mine shared with me, the best she could, how to be saved. Subsequently, I led some youth groups in and around Dorchester, Roxbury and Boston. I was first licensed to preach through Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Boston. I attended John Brown University (BA) and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv). I was a Hospital Chaplain for 10 years. I pastored and was interim pastor at numerous churches in North Carolina.
When I met with the pastors in July, I shared with them about the meetings I feel God’s leading to do. I am calling them “D. L. Moody Days,” and they will take place September 10-19, 2017. All services will be from 7-9 pm.
On Sunday night, September 10th, Dr. Bob Dvorak will open the services with worship using traditional hymns as would have been led by Ira Sankey in the D. L. Moody services.
The preaching each night will focus on the Cross of Christ, and that salvation is through faith in Christ alone.
Please email your areas of interest and involvement. Thank you for your attention, and I look forward to working together with you in this endeavor, for the advancement of God’s kingdom in the Pioneer Valley area. firstname.lastname@example.org
Nick has several opportunities available for those interested in serving at the event, so you can contact him for more information. We look forward to hosting this event and continuing to see new faces here to celebrate the work of God.
