When we first started dreaming about The Moody Center, the original vision was to take care of the Northfield property and maybe run a small ministry. Yet only a few months in to operating, and God seems to have different plans. Every day holds another phone call of someone with a big vision they want to attach with The Moody Center, another volunteer, another event. God is on the move, and we are doing our best to get out of the way and let Him lead.
What is more exciting is there is a bigger move even across all of New England. Churches and ministries are rising up, crying out for the Lord to lead their work, and we see a harvest ready and waiting.
When God leads the way
The balance of staying surrendered to be in line with God’s leading can be tricky. Not much would happen if we stayed in our rooms and never moved a muscle, but running on a rocket launch of our own energy and efforts is not much better either. We need to be infused with the character of Christ so that it is Him that lives, breathes, and moves through us.
When God leads the way, our plans can be surrendered and replaced with His best, not our best.
When God leads the way, our desires change for a heavenly city where we belong.
When God leads the way, our hearts break for what is heavy on the Father’s heart; no longer our selfish wants.
When God leads the way, our road ahead does not make sense, but it leads us into deeper trust and intimacy with our Guide.
When God leads the way, our vision is shifted to experience the joy and delight of the Kingdom.
Things are changing
God loves to do a new work. It keeps us all on our toes, and it sure keeps us all trusting. There is a beautiful paraphrase of part of Philippians 3 that says:
“By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I’ve got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward- to Jesus. I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back.
So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision- you’ll see it yet! Now that we’re on the right track, let’s stay on it.
Stick with me, friends. Keep track of those you see running this same course, headed for this same goal. There are many out there taking other paths, choosing other goals, and trying to get you to go along with them. I’ve warned you of them many times; sadly. […]
But there’s far more to life for us. We’re citizens of high heaven! We’re waiting the arrival of the Savior, the Master Jesus Christ, who will transform our earthly bodies into glorious bodies like His own. He will make us beautiful and whole with the same powerful skill by which He is putting everything as it should be, under and around Him.”
Be encouraged, friends
May that passage reignite a passion in your soul, today! You are on the right track if you are pursuing Jesus and His kingdom. Your work matters! You are needed- your tender daily submission to the Lord’s leadership makes a difference. If you are discouraged, go back and look at His victories. How has God been good to you?
Let us not grow weary in pursuing the Lord’s work. We are The Moody Center. We want to reach the next 100 million souls as D.L. Moody did with the gospel. We want to provide the place to introduce people to Jesus and to restore those who do know Him.
What is your vision? How are you allowing the Lord to lead?
