December is a busy month for all. Holidays, year-end giving, planning for 2018, family events, church services all can overwhelm us. We can lose sight of our calling just trying to survive the busyness. Maybe 2017 was a year of discouragement for you. There did not seem to be much progress or you suffered big set backs.
No matter where this last month of 2017 finds you, take time to center your heart upon where God called you and press into that. You have purpose, and your work matters. Be faithful to cultivate His good work. Let these verses strengthen your resolve.
John 15:16 “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.”
Psalm 37:3 “Trust in the LORD and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.”
Hebrews 11:13-16 “These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth. For people who speak thus make it clear that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of that land from which they had gone out, they would have had opportunity to return. But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.”
1 Corinthians 15:58 “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.”
Galatians 5:1 “It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.”
